From the best action game to the best multiplayer. The gamescom award 2020 was awarded in various categories. We show you here all the nominated games and the winners for the gamescom 2020.

What kind of award is this? The nominated games for the gamescom award 2020 are now set. A jury consisting of German and international games journalists as well as well-known YouTubers have selected the nominees from over 140 submissions.
Winners will be determined in 26 categories ranging from action to remasters to racing games. The first awards will be presented at the start of the gamescom 2020 during the Opening Night Live. More will follow over the course of the digital event over the next few days.
How to vote? In various categories, you can influence which game should win an award. All you need is a valid email.
Additionally, fans will also award the gamescom “Most Wanted” Consumer Award, which is voted on by fans among all nominated games. These and other winning titles in the jury categories Best Announcement, Best Lineup, Best Presentation / Trailer, and the HEART OF GAMING Award will be announced during the gamescom: Best Of Show on Sunday, August 30. The main prize, Best of gamescom, will also be awarded then.”
Nominations for best Ongoing Game
The following games are nominated:
- Borderlands 3
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare / Warzone
- World of Tanks
Borderlands 3: The co-op shooter from Gearbox was released in September 2019 and has been diligently supplied with new content since then. This happens through patches and DLCs. Meanwhile, the release of the 4th DLC for Borderlands 3 is imminent.
The new DLC “Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck” brings plenty of new weapons, gear, and cosmetics. The focus is on a journey into the mind of the psycho “Krieg”.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare / Warzone: The latest installment of the popular shooter franchise was released in October 2019. In March 2020, the free battle royale mode, Warzone, was added. Developers regularly bring new content in the form of seasons to the game. Currently, Season 5 is running in CoD MW and Warzone.
World of Tanks: Since 2010, the action MMO World of Tanks has been on the market. Since then, the game has been supplied with new content through patches. This includes new tanks, game modes or maps where the new vehicles can battle.
Nominations for best Multiplayer Game
The following games are nominated:
- Dual Universe
- NBA 2K21
- Operation: Tango
Dual Universe: A massive space sandbox is what Dual Universe will offer you. It focuses on construction and economy, but also on impressive PvP battles in space that were introduced in the new trailer. Although the game has not been released yet, a beta starts just in time for the gamescom start on August 27.
What makes Dual Universe so special is the scale of the game. The driving force behind Dual Universe, J.C. Baillie, explained that potentially millions of people can be in the same world at the same time and share it.
NBA 2K21: NBA 2K21 is a basketball simulation series from 2K Games. The game features licenses from the North American professional league National Basketball Association and will be released on September 4, 2020.
Like its predecessor NBA 2K20, NBA 2K21 will also offer plenty of multiplayer fun. “My Team” is similar to FUT in FIFA. Here, you assemble your own team and play against other players.
Operation: Tango: In Operation: Tango, developer Clever Plays tests your co-op skills. Together with a friend, you must complete missions as hackers and agents in a highly advanced, futuristic world. You will face puzzles that initially seem unsolvable, but can ultimately be deciphered with perfect teamwork. The release is planned for 2021.
