With the release of the new expansion World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, there are new secrets and rare rewards. Already in the first zone, you can obtain a new mount: the white unicorn Sun-Dancer. MeinMMO will tell you how to get it.
What kind of mount is this? Sun-Dancer is one of the first rare opponents you can find shortly after starting in the new expansion Shadowlands. The horse circles in the southeastern Bastion, teasing you from a distance with its presence.
Although Sun-Dancer can be found in the first area, you probably won’t get it that early. You cannot simply kill Sun-Dancer to get its loot. Instead, you must tame the horse in order to claim it as a mount.
To tame it, you first need to complete a small task. Additionally, you will need an item that is available only later in the game, the Sky-Screamer Glider. We will tell you how to get the Glider and obtain Sun-Dancer as a mount.
Taming Sun-Dancer in Shadowlands – Here’s how
Obtaining Blessing and Glider: You need two components to tame the horse:
- Blessing of the Sun Rider
- Sky-Screamer Glider
You will receive the blessing at coordinates 60 / 94 in the southeast of Bastion. Simply click on the shrine you see there. In our guide, we explain how to display coordinates in World of Warcraft.
You can purchase the Sky-Screamer Glider at the auction house or craft it yourself. However, you will need to join the Kyrians, one of the covenants in Shadowlands. With the Kyrians, you must build your reputation so that you unlock the ability “Teachings of Wisdom” in the Path of Ascension.
Through one of the trials, you will then learn the recipe for the glider. This will likely take you several weeks. Don’t expect to obtain Sun-Dancer right at release.
Fighting Sun-Dancer: Once you have the glider, simply travel to the shrine and collect the blessing. Then intercept Sun-Dancer along its route and jump from a cliff. Use the glider and sail towards the horse.
Once you are in range, you can interact with Sun-Dancer and mount up. You will need to try to calm it down, and you will receive significant damage regularly, so you might already die at lower levels.
Once you’ve calmed the horse down, it will land with you in a free area and then challenge you. The fight is also quite tough, and you will likely need strong endgame gear or friends for this. You can see how it all goes down in the embedded video here:
If you defeat Sun-Dancer, getting it as a mount is not guaranteed. At least in the beta, there were cases where its reins were not awarded to players. So don’t expect to receive it even after completing the task.
