Do you want to get a Shako or a grandfather in Diablo 4? With Lord of Hatred, it’s now easier than ever. A user explains how to drastically increase your chances. Your most important tool: the Horadric Cube.
With Lord of Hatred, the Horadric Cube has come into play. The feature allows you to improve or change your loot with certain recipes. Many recipes are available by default, while others are secret.
One of the recipes that seems to be less known is merging items into something new. For example, you can get the set spells you want through the “3-to-1 method” – and with a 5-item merge, mythical tributes.
On Reddit, a user explains that you can upgrade 5 tributes for the Underworld into a higher level tribute:
- 5 rare become a rare tribute
- 5 rare tributes become a legendary one
- 5 legendary tributes result in a mythical tribute
Mythical tributes grant a significantly increased chance for unique and even mythical items like the Harlequin’s Crest if you use them before entering the Underworld and complete the run afterward. An entrance to the Underworld is conveniently located in Temis.
Merging also works with Nightmare Sigils
In a further thread, a user reveals that this merging also works with Nightmare Sigils for dungeons. From 5 of these sigils, you can create a Escalation Sigil, which allows you to fight Astaroth for a chance at mythical items if you are playing on Torment 1 or higher.
In the same thread, the creator advises that you can create random items from the loot table of the respective boss using boss trophies.
Looking at the comments, it seems the trick was new for many players. Most welcome that Blizzard has now introduced the ability to decide: Do I want an immediate chance at good loot or do I want to save the tributes and earn a chance at mythical items?
Most recommend using particularly strong tributes and such only at higher torment levels to benefit from the generally improved loot chances. The use is worthwhile around torment 8-10. Torment has 12 possible levels since Lord of Hatred, with the highest likely not being as difficult as expected: Diablo 4 is said to be significantly harder now, after 17 hours the first expert is already done.
