GTA 6 is expected to be released on November 19, 2026. Looking at gaming shows like the Summer Game Fest from last weekend, it seems that game publishers are trying to avoid November.
It is already becoming clear that September could be one of the best months in gaming. But 2 games with iconic characters are taking up the challenge against the gangster epic: Godzilla and Barbie.

Which games are involved? The legendary publisher Atari is releasing 2 games in November: Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered on November 3 and Barbie Rewind on November 12. Both titles are primarily something for nostalgic gamers or fans of old games:
- Godzilla: Destroy All Monster Melee Remastered is an enhanced re-release of the 2002 game. You fight with various monsters from the franchise locally or, newly, online. The battles take place in 3D arenas where you can throw buildings or flatten entire cities.
- Barbie Rewind is a retro collection of 16 Barbie games that were released between 1991 and 2007. In addition, there is a game that has never been released before, Barbie: Vacation Adventure, now finally available as a playable version.
The two pop culture icons could also be joined by the 1.0 version of Path of Exile 2. Although there is no concrete date yet, the full version is expected to be released in 2026, and a show about Path of Exile will take place in early November. The indie publisher Devolver Digital also wants to release a game on the release date of GTA 6 (Source: Gamespot).
How is the reception of the other titles in the community? On various social media platforms like x.com, users are creating memes about the battle between Godzilla, Barbie, and GTA 6 and elevating Atari’s games to a level that the others cannot reach.
But at least both Barbie and Godzilla have managed to get attention just because of the release date.
Can Barbie and Godzilla compete with GTA? No, but the release of GTA 6 shouldn’t be a problem for both games. On the one hand, according to the Atari website, they are expected to be €30 titles, targeting a smaller audience interested in retro and both characters.
