Changes have been found in the game data of Pokémon GO that suggest a new type of raids. The community already hates them.
Dataminers regularly scour the files of Pokémon GO, looking for changes in the form of new images or altered texts. This time, they have found something as well. They discovered texts indicating a new type of challenge: the Unity Raids.
The community assumes that these raids could debut in the game with the release of the two Mega evolutions of Mewtwo. Already now, a feature of the potentially new raids is causing frustration.
“Like a gathering of cult members”
What is this feature? The discovered texts suggest that in the Unity Raids, you must hold your smartphone in the air to charge so-called Unity Attacks and capture the monster. The texts say among other things: “Hold your device in the air to catch your Pokémon” and “To charge a Unity Attack, raise your device together with the other trainers in the battle into the air and hold it there”.
When will the feature be released? Please note that this information is based only on texts discovered in dataminings and not on official announcements from Niantic. Whether and in what form the feature will really make it into the game remains to be seen.
In the past, however, dataminers have often discovered things that ultimately found their way into the game. This was recently the case with the Mega evolutions of Mewtwo, for which clues were already found in January and which now celebrate their debut in the game at the GO Fest 2026 in July.
What does the community say about this? In the community, the potentially new type of raids is already causing frustration. Some of the comments on Reddit on the subject are:
