Pokémon GO has announced a new Raid Day. Here you can find two completely new Mega Evolutions for the first time, which also come with an increased Shiny chance.
What kind of event is this? A Raid Day is an event that is active for 3 hours. During this time, you can find, defeat, and catch the featured monsters in a majority of the gyms.
While on June 27, 2026 the Raid Day with Mega-Panzaeron takes place, the subsequent Raid Day has already been announced. It will occur on July 18, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Here, you can expect not one, but two new Mega Evolutions.
Three hours, two evolutions, one increased Shiny chance
Which monsters will be at the Raid Day? At the Raid Day, you can find the two Mega Evolutions of Raichu in Super Mega Raids. They are named Mega-Raichu X and Mega-Raichu Y. Both have not been available in the game before and are making their debut here.
What bonuses are available during the event? The following bonuses await you during the event:
- increased chance of Shiny Raichu from Super Mega Raids
- Raichu starts with Mega Level 1 when you catch it in Super Mega Raids
- up to 6 free Raid Passes from gym photo disks
- the remote raid limit is increased to 20 (from July 18, 2026, at 2:00 AM to July 19, 2026, at 5:00 AM)
- a free, limited-time research task in which you will receive a Premium Battle Pass as well as an encounter with Steelix
- optional event ticket for $4.99 (approximately €5), which allows you to receive up to 14 Raid Passes from gyms, an increased chance of special Candy XL after raids, and 5,000 additional XP and Stardust from Super Mega Raids
If you’re targeting both Mega forms, then the Mega Level bonus should be particularly interesting. This ensures that you don’t need to farm Mega Energy for the two monsters, but ideally can defeat and catch both evolutions once in a raid. Afterwards, you will have 2 Raichu, each of which can trigger one of the two evolutions.
How strong will they be? The exact strength of the two evolutions will only be revealed when they make their way into the game. However, current predictions suggest that Mega-Raichu Y will be among the best attackers in Pokémon GO and will climb to the top of the Electric attackers.
Mega-Raichu X is likely to be weaker and won’t find a place among the top attackers.
