Some items in World of Warcraft seem funny or even silly – until you discover the truth and know where they are used.
World of Warcraft consists of quite a few different elements. Trees, rocks, and other objects, the “assets” of the game world, create a beautiful overall picture. However, in the game data of the MMORPG, there are always details that appear curious or eerie.
One of them is a mill that has apparently been repurposed to swing babies in a circle. What the community directly dubbed the “Tauren Baby Fidget Spinner” actually has a use in the game – and it is rather dark.
A Tauren mobile for a nasty flesh eater
What kind of object is this? The object is named “babywheel01” in the game files and is exactly what the name suggests. A rotating mill, from whose ends wrapped Tauren babies hang, swung around in a circle. This could perhaps be considered quite practical, as the babies are entertained a little while grain can be milled at the same time.
However, many in the community believed that the object does not occur in the game and only exists in the data – which is wrong.
Where can you find this in the game? When SCGLara showed the image in the WoW subreddit, the reaction from the user “whatisthisgunifound” came pretty quickly. He knew exactly where he had seen it before: in Nagrand.
Because in Nagrand (The Burning Crusade) there is the dark story of a shapeshifter named Challe, who frequently morphs into different forms. To survive, she apparently feeds on babies that she previously kidnaps – and that’s exactly where you can find this spinning Tauren baby mill.
For a long time, this was just speculation, but in the expansion “Warlords of Draenor” this myth was then addressed and provided with real quests.
Many also associate the object with a baby mobile, which some might remember from their baby years. These were small frameworks with different figures that were hung over the crib so that the baby had visual stimuli – either to fall asleep or when it woke up. The troll lady Challe might have taken the “baby mobile” a little too literally and directly hung babies on it.
Perhaps so that they always see something delicious when she lies down to sleep.
