The Twitch streamer Disguised Toast owes his career to a particular type of game where the goal is to deceive your friends.
Who is it about? Disguised Toast is an English-speaking Twitch streamer who started his career with content related to the card game Hearthstone. Nowadays, however, he is associated with another game: Among Us. The game skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and gave streamers millions of views. In the mix: Disguised Toast, who played the game with his friends and content group OfflineTV – showcasing an amazing talent for deceiving his friends.
Streamer grew up with Among Us on Twitch, although he wasn’t streaming
This was the influence of Among Us: Disguised Toast managed to double or even triple his follower count across several platforms – even on Twitch, where he wasn’t streaming at that time due to a deal with Facebook.
As the big hype around Among Us subsided, the streamer turned to other games, but none of them had such a lasting impact on his career.
Even beyond Disguised Toast, one could say that Among Us sparked a trend that is partly referred to today as Friendslop
: games that offer a fundamentally fun gameplay loop, but live primarily through the interactions of the players with each other. These games also perform extremely well on Twitch.
A current example of this trend is Meccha Chameleon, a type of hide-and-seek game where players must paint their character so that it blends in with the background. The game currently records daily peaks of over 300,000 simultaneous players on Steam and leads the Trending Games on Twitch (via SullyGnome).
Like Among Us, Meccha Chameleon can be classified among Deception Games, which are games where you have to deceive others… and of course, Disguised Toast is back again. On X he showed a YouTube video in which he played Meccha Chameleon with fellow influencers. Even though OfflineTV producer Brofain ultimately took the victory, Disguised Toast’s video made it to the Trending Charts on YouTube.

In his post, the Twitch streamer thanked indie developers who create such Deception Games that have been supporting his career since 2019.
Have you tried Meccha Chameleon yet? What are your success strategies to avoid being found?
Not every area went as well for Disguised Toast as it did with Among Us. In 2023, the Twitch streamer founded his own esports team in the shooter Valorant – right in the infamous Esport Winter
: Twitch streamer founds own team, 1 million dollars later he criticizes esports: “Everyone loses a lot of money”
