A class-based MMORPG has entered Early Access on Steam a few days ago and can temporarily attract so many players to the servers that even the established competition looks old.
Which MMORPG is it? SpiritVale launched on Steam in Early Access on July 15, 2026, and wants to attract you to the servers with the following strengths:
- an experience inspired by the classics of the genre
- 7 basic classes that can be expanded into specializations
- the ability to create specialized builds from countless equipment pieces, cards, gems, and artifacts
- motivating crafting system as well as a player-defined economy
- a world full of PvE challenges and loot
- exciting PvP battles in the arenas that rely on your skill as well as your strategy
- fair payment model without Pay2Win – all microtransactions are purely cosmetic
Shortly after the Early Access launch, we already reported that the plan is working. Although the reviews on Steam are mixed mainly due to the technical server problems, many players emphasize: aside from these initial difficulties, the new MMORPG is a lot of fun!
“The best 15 euros I have ever invested”
How has SpiritVale developed since its launch? Very positively. The Steam reviews are increasingly becoming more positive. At launch, only 42 percent of the reviews were positive, but now it is 52 percent on Steam.
In addition, player numbers are rising. According to steamdb.info, there were temporarily 19,364 players simultaneously on the servers of SpiritVale via Steam over the weekend. On Monday, the count even rose to a strong 20,253.
For context: In our list of the 10 MMORPGs with the most players on Steam, this would have been enough for a strong third place, behind Black Desert (20,774 concurrently active players over the weekend) and Final Fantasy XIV (23,495). Other established MMORPGs like The Elder Scrolls Online, MIR4, Albion Online, Guild Wars 2, or Star Wars: The Old Republic have significantly fewer Steam players.

What are the remaining issues? The server problems from the Early Access launch are gradually easing, but now the developers are facing other challenges: many players of the demo apparently used the free access to violate the rules and ruin the experience for others. The developers have temporarily disabled the demo for now.
Additionally, the team is currently struggling with bots. On Steam, the responsible parties state that they are using a bot-hunting program that has already been very successful against the cheaters. However, they are relying on the community’s reports to combat the bots effectively.
What does the community say? Anyone wanting to try SpiritVale now must currently invest nearly 15 euros due to the lack of a demo. Here are some voices from people who have already done so:
