No matter how much GTA 6 will change, whether it’s graphical leaps or the gameplay: Just the decision to use a couple as main characters makes the game significantly more exciting for MeinMMO editor Caro compared to its predecessor.
When it became clear from the first trailer: “Wait … it’s about a couple?” GTA 6 had me in its grip. I was anyway – like probably half of the gaming cosmos – curious about what the successor to GTA 5 would look like, since I spent way too much time on the game during my childhood.
With Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, I’m looking forward not only to a lot of humor, shooting, and cool car driving: I’m also really excited about the story and these two characters. Two aspects that, despite the fun of its predecessor GTA 5… were rather insignificant to me.
And it is precisely because of this decision that I am sure: This could finally be a truly human GTA that is not only fun but also emotionally engaging.
Different approach than in GTA 5
Don’t get me wrong. The characters from GTA 5 are by no means “bad”… but well. Often I felt that they didn’t care about anyone else in their environment, they simply could not stand each other, and that cannot always be saved by a wild Trevor, who was the most fun for me (yes – I found it funny when he pulls down his pants to comfort another man in order to ease his conscience.)

Just the idea of the two new characters promises me that Rockstar will finally deliver what I have been missing in GTA so far: a conflict that not only brings forth funny scenes but really touches me. And that can only happen if the characters mean at least something to each other – and to me.
With a couple that works together not just out of necessity but loves, laughs, parties, and cuddles, it’s clear: There is more to lose than just money and reputation.
“When something happens, I’m right behind you.” – Jason Duval
“The only thing that matters is who you know and what you have.” – Lucia Caminos

Conflict is inevitable – and I’m excited about it
Based on what we know so far about Jason and Lucia, the trailer and the descriptions from Rockstar reveal that we are promised passion, closeness, and a true couple, but that something will definitely develop there.
Lucia has just come out of prison and is now focused on shaping her life the way she dreams it to be. And for that, she wants to take matters into her own hands.
Jason, on the other hand, is looking for a simple life that is becoming increasingly turbulent. He is very rooted in his environment and is unsure of which path he really wants to take.

Anyone who looks at the character page on the official Rockstar website will quickly notice: While Lucia is seeking a way out of her old life, Jason is unsure whether this “paradise” is really that great.
Now we have cool characters – but the gameplay must keep up
The two protagonists not only provide the potential for significantly stronger characters and a gripping story. If the gameplay can now also capture the power of a well-coordinated duo, it could really be fun!
It would be exciting to see a feature that allows teamwork between two characters not just through switching back and forth. It would be nice to see if instructions and prompts as well as pings could be utilized, such as “Focus on those guys!” or “Get the car quickly!”.
The dynamics should not only be felt in cutscenes, but also be experienced firsthand by the player in direct gameplay. And that is just one example, the potential remains significantly greater.
What do you think about Lucia and Jason as main characters in GTA 6? Do you think the decision is good? Or are you not interested in the couple at all? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
Since they are two people in a relationship, a well-known iconic feature of GTA could become significantly more relevant in the latest installment: In GTA, strip clubs were previously just a place for harmless fun; thanks to the protagonists, part 6 must intensify this feature
