The Twitch streamers Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris (33) and Kilian “Tanzverbot” Heinrich (24) have discussed the topic of gambling addiction and casinos in a stream in the past. Now the topic came up again in Tanzverbot’s livestream. This was followed by a chain of reactions: It ended with an upset statement from Kilian and a response from MontanaBlack.
What started the discussion? In the past, there was a discussion between MontanaBlack and Tanzverbot in the livestream on Twitch, in which both sides held a clear stance:
- Tanzverbot was against casinos and said that MontanaBlack was already somewhat addicted to them. Furthermore, he fulfills a role model function for his young viewers.
- MontanaBlack said he sees no problem in enjoying himself in casinos. Not everyone is directly addicted, and he knows about serious addictions because he has been addicted to alcohol and other drugs before.
The debate dragged on for over 90 minutes with various discussion points, during which it was followed live by more than 100,000 viewers.
Afterwards, every recording of this discussion was deleted. MontanaBlack insisted that nothing of it be uploaded on any platform. He had to discuss the casino debate so often that it was not necessary to do it again. It then went quiet around the debate until Tanzverbot talked about it again in a livestream.
Tanzverbot criticizes MontanaBlack, xRohat, and Real_Bazzi in the livestream
On November 13, the official livestream highlight channel of Tanzverbot uploaded a video on YouTube that contained criticism of MontanaBlack and his colleagues Real_Bazzi and xRohat.
Bazzi and Rohat are also Twitch streamers who have been playing with MontanaBlack for some time and have become better known through the “GTA Online” roleplay with him. Rohat is also one of the currently biggest streamers in Germany.
In this context, Tanzverbot raised the following points of criticism:
- MontanaBlack took Rohat to the casino to “only” gamble 400 euros. Tanzverbot notes that it was not “only” 400 euros. One should not lose sight of the value of money, even if one has a lot of it. He found it terrible that such a large amount of money was spent in two hours.
- MontanaBlack should not present it as normal to simply go to the casino with 400 euros and gamble it away. He takes a role model position for his viewers.
- Tanzverbot said he once lived off 400 euros for two months and emphasized how much money that is.
- Although Rohat quickly gained hype through GTA Online, he needs to be careful not to lose his audience once that hype is over. Rohat should pay attention to his money and not gamble it away; one never knows what is coming.
- Rohat and Bazzi are very outspoken, have big mouths, and play themselves up too much just because they are now bigger and have hype.
Response from MontanaBlack to Tanzverbot’s livestream criticism
Two days later, on November 15, MontanaBlack responded to the criticism in a livestream on Twitch. He didn’t really want to do it, MontanaBlack said, but the chat voted for it, so he was convinced to comment on Tanzverbot’s statements.
A compilation of MontanaBlack’s statements was subsequently uploaded to an official highlight channel of MontanaBlack on YouTube.
MontanaBlack responded to the criticism as follows:
- The relationship between people’s earnings is crucial to how much they spend in the end. The more someone earns, the more they can also spend.
- Whether one spends 400 euros on expensive clothes, cars, food, or in the casino is completely irrelevant. Everyone can do what they think is right with their money.
- MontanaBlack used Tanzverbot’s consumption of food as an example: If he orders food ten times a week, he pays for food delivery an amount that a low-income earner cannot afford.
- He also defended his colleagues Rohat and Bazzi, saying they had a loose mouth before. Tanzverbot just didn’t notice that because they were not big streamers and he did not engage with them.
- MontanaBlack went to the casino with Rohat and spent 400 euros with him because Rohat simply felt like it at that moment, and that was right. Furthermore, Rohat had already been engaging in sports betting and casino visits before.
- Moreover, according to MontanaBlack, Tanzverbot had an undertone of envy and resentment in the criticism.
- Because earlier, MontanaBlack himself had created hype for him, as he had donated 3 euros to Tanzverbot with a provocative message. MontanaBlack regrets this today and calls it a mistake. Tanzverbot responded to the 3-euro donation with a video that garnered a million views on YouTube.
Tanzverbot upset, makes loud statement against MontanaBlack
Tanzverbot felt attacked by the reaction and subsequently made a loud statement video in the woods and posted it on YouTube.
He clearly emphasized that MontanaBlack is not solely responsible for his size as an influencer, and that he himself has managed to become such a large content creator.
Only the big streamer Unge is allowed to claim that he made Tanzverbot big. Unge supported him during a project for a long time, and Tanzverbot owes him about 300,000 subscribers.
In the video, Tanzverbot addresses these topics:
- Tanzverbot first apologized to Bazzi and Rohat after he was not neutral towards them. He had not engaged with them sufficiently before.
- It felt to Tanzverbot as if it was MontanaBlack’s mission to undermine his career and make him appear poorly. He found it unfair that this reaction was uploaded while the previous discussion was not made public. He believes it is because MontanaBlack did not come out well in the original discussion.
- MontanaBlack only uploads videos and reacts to things that make him appear in a good light.
- Tanzverbot emphasizes again that one should not lose sight of the value of money despite wealth. One should see 10 euros as 10 euros and not consider it worthless. Especially MontanaBlack should know this, as he was once homeless and poor.
- He is the last who would be envious or resentful of others, and this criticism from MontanaBlack troubles him, as that is not how he is.
- Tanzverbot describes casinos as “works of the devil.” He hates these establishments; they destroy people’s lives.
Response from MontanaBlack to Tanzverbot’s announcement in the livestream
On Twitch, MontanaBlack responded to the announcement video, and he mentioned beforehand that he probably had not gone into the previous reaction quite neutrally, but he wanted to change this in his current reaction. He “owed it to Kilian.”
Previously, MontanaBlack showed a message history between him and Tanzverbot from Instagram, in which he asked Tanzverbot if they could “not just get along again.” He sent the message long before the announcement video appeared.
MontanaBlack had thought about his reaction to Tanzverbot’s livestream and felt he had been partially wrong and reacted too strongly.
This is what MontanaBlack said about Tanzverbot’s announcement video:
- He apologized for indirectly saying that he was responsible for Tanzverbot’s success.
- MontanaBlack pointed out to Tanzverbot that he should not generalize everything. Not everyone who enters a casino is immediately addicted. He sees the casino as a means of entertainment and not as a “work of the devil.”
- There are also people who are deterred from gambling because they can watch streamers spend their money in online casinos. They will certainly also be deterred because they see how often one loses.
- However, if someone has a certain inclination towards addiction and cannot control themselves, then the danger exists that the person “grabs the hand of the devil,” as MontanaBlack put it.
- Everyone who gambles in a casino is responsible for themselves. Not himself and the streamers who play online casinos are to blame, but only the individual.
- For MontanaBlack, a casino is what vacation and nice food probably are for Tanzverbot – just pleasure, thus he is by no means addicted to it.
Regarding money, MontanaBlack partially agrees with Tanzverbot. He states that his whole life has been far from reality:
- People stalk him.
- People order food for his grandparents.
- Fans even called his old hometown Buxtehude to get his address under the pretext of wanting to inform him about the dangers of a possible infection with Corona.
Thus, he no longer sees his money with realistic eyes. The 33-year-old earns so much money that it is just printed paper for him. 400 euros are for him not what they used to be when he lived on the street.
Now about 200 euros for MontanaBlack is what 10 euros used to be for him. He interjects that he was sometimes happier as a homeless person than he is now, with heaps of money.
In conclusion, he offers Tanzverbot to talk privately with him. He sees this as the only right way to resolve the matter, and they should not drag it out in public any longer. He would like to clarify this so that there is no hard feelings between the two. Tanzverbot, however, has not publicly commented on this offer.
