With a new – and according to some fans, the best – video, Games Workshop has announced the release date of the 11th edition of Warhammer 40,000: Starting from June 20, 2026, the new boxes will be on the shelves. However, what is shown in the trailer is more exciting for many.
After we already knew for several weeks where the 11th edition of Warhammer 40,000 will take place, Games Workshop has announced the release in the Sunday Preview on May 31, 2026:
- On June 20, 2026, the 11th edition will hit stores
- You can pre-order starting from June 6
The flagship of the new edition will be the Armageddon box with over 60 miniatures of Space Marines and Orks, which according to spikeybits.com will supposedly be available for 245 euros.
Thus, the box is cheaper than the Saturnine set of the Horus Heresy, which is listed at 252 euros in the official shop.
In the accompanying video “No Peace Amongst the Stars”, which Games Workshop posted on YouTube, the lore of the Emperor is explained for almost 4 minutes, who himself appears several times:
“He is actually quite frightening”
The trailer shows the Emperor in two different “versions”: in his radiant armor at the apex of his existence and as a decaying corpse on the Golden Throne. Games Workshop presents official images of the Emperor for the first time.
Until now, it was a big mystery whether the Emperor is still alive or “really” dead, and according to fans, this remains the case with the current portrayal:

In other discussions on Reddit, there is now debate about how alive the Emperor himself still is as a “corpse”, as in different shots he is seen moving: While he initially looks sideways with a milky gaze, by the end his eyes are very clear on the viewer.
