A fix for the raid exploit in Destiny 2 is still taking longer than expected. Additionally, Bungie announces raid challenges.
An exploit in the Leviathan raid has been causing trouble for days. This allows players to fight Calus completely without adds – making the encounter significantly easier.
Originally, the prestige raid, a harder version of the raid with prestige loot, was supposed to launch last Tuesday, but it has been postponed due to the exploit. It is now scheduled for next Wednesday, October 18. After all, Bungie wants to crown the “World First Run” again, and a significant exploit does not provide a foundation for fair competition.
The developers wanted to implement a solution, a fix for the problem, in time – but this will not be possible for the moment.
Fix is still delayed, prestige raid will take place anyway
Bungie has now commented on this exploit issue. They have been working on a fix, but found that the temporary solution involves too many risks. They want to avoid destroying other parts of the game for all Guardians while implementing a fix for an exploit used by only some players.
Therefore, a fix has been postponed to a later time.
However: The prestige raid will still start on October 18 at 7 PM. Bungie does not want to keep the Guardians waiting any longer.
During the investigation, they found a way to identify exploit users. In other words, if a team uses this exploit, Bungie can exclude them from the race for the World First. This way, they can crown a winner with absolute certainty.
Bungie is still working on a reliable fix for the problem. It is set to be implemented with a future update.
Raid challenges are coming
The prestige raid will not be the last innovation coming to the Leviathan raid. In the future, raid challenges are planned to be introduced.
Bungie announces that they will discuss these raid challenges next week. They have been designed so that you can approach the raid encounters in different ways than you have done in the past weeks.
Raid challenges were first introduced to the Destiny universe in Winter 2015. They require specific mechanics to allow the individual phases to drop additional loot. How these mechanics work is something the community will have to discover for themselves.
We will show you how the “normal” phases in the Leviathan raid work here.
