The discussions around Diablo Immortal, the game’s funding model, and the Pay2Win mechanics simply do not stop. A player recently shared on Reddit the insight that a character with the best possible equipment is significantly more expensive than previously assumed.
How expensive is a perfect character? If you want a character in Diablo Immortal that maximizes its equipment and is as well-equipped as the game allows, according to Reddit user u/ShiftYourCarcass, you need to spend over $540,000 (€511,000) (via reddit).
So far, it was assumed that reaching a maximized character in Diablo Immortal would cost around $100,000 (€95,000).
The cost of Diablo Immortal – More legendary gems needed than expected
What makes the equipment so expensive? To improve your equipment in Diablo Immortal, you need to insert legendary gems into your gear, as illustrated in our Demon Hunter build for high single-target damage.
For a top-tier character, it’s important not to use just any legendary gem, but only legendary 5/5-star gems. How rare these are was demonstrated by Twitch streamer Quin69, who invested €15,000 before he got his first 5/5-star gem in Diablo Immortal.
How does this high sum arise? Reddit user u/ShiftYourCarcass mentions in his post that it was previously assumed that 6 legendary 5/5-star gems were needed for a maximized character. However, players have discovered the so-called awakening mechanic, which allows you to awaken your gear.
Awakened gear has not only a slot for one legendary gem but a total of 6 gem slots. This means that a character needs not just 6, but 36 legendary 5/5-star gems to be as well-equipped as possible.
In his calculations, Reddit user u/ShiftYourCarcass assumed an average investment of $15,000 (€14,200) per 5/5-star gem. By the way, this is still a lower amount than Quin69 needed for a single gem.
So if you pay 36 times €14,200 to get legendary 5/5-star gems in Diablo Immortal, you will end up investing a total of €511,200 to have a character with maximum equipment.
