In World of Warcraft, items will soon be deleted – whether you want them or not. We will tell you if your items are affected.
With a new patch in World of Warcraft, changes are always implemented. This time, with Patch 11.2 Spirits of K’aresh, these changes are somewhat more extensive and also affect your bank slots. They will not only be revised, but some items will be removed.

What is changing? With Patch 11.2, some banks in World of Warcraft are being phased out – namely the storage for crafting materials and the void bank. The result is that you will end up with more space than before, as new bank slots will be unlocked.
What kind of items will be deleted? Blizzard has announced in the official forum that when transitioning to the new bank system, some items that are currently in your void bank will be deleted. These are items considered “obsolete.” From Blizzard, it is stated in the official WoW forum:
A long time ago, we removed a few very special items to make space that they would otherwise occupy in your inventory. At one point long ago, these items lost their function, such as very old keys or the cosmetic helmets, like the Jewel of the Fire Lord, the Crown of Eternal Winter, or the Hood of Greedy Darkness. When these items were added to your collection, they disappeared from your inventory.
Unless they were in the void bank.

Why were the items still in the game? The affected items are those that would have been deleted from your inventory under normal circumstances anyway. For instance, when they were automatically added to your collection. Only storing them in the void bank kept these items “frozen” and allowed them to survive over time. If you had taken the items out of the void bank in between, they would have long disappeared by the next time you logged in.
According to Blizzard, this only affects a “very small number of players who have such items in the void bank.”
These items will thus permanently disappear with the release of Patch 11.2.
The community fears losing treasures: The announcement has caused excitement in the community. Many fear that items affected include those that are no longer obtainable in the game but still hold significant value and are part of cherished WoW memories. Some have old quest items from the vanilla era that no longer exist. The concern is great that something will disappear that they used to enjoy.
However, since Blizzard has clarified that only items that would have disappeared anyway if they were in your normal inventory will be removed, it is unlikely to affect any items that you truly used in recent years.
Therefore, a real loss will not occur, as all templates and useful items are not affected. Nonetheless, this announcement may scratch at some nostalgic feelings that may be slightly damaged. After all, some have been playing the game for 2 decades – and a lot has accumulated over that time.
