What is this proof? In the very first episode after the long break that the anime had, the Straw Hats are joyfully celebrating. After all, they are soon anchoring off the island Elban, the land of giants.
During this, Luffy instructs his musician Brook to start singing a song. Each of the 9 members of the Straw Hat crew is shown celebrating joyfully. Wait, 9 members? Aren’t there actually ten pirates?
Exactly, because in this joyful and emotional scene, Sanji was simply forgotten. He is only shown at the beginning, before the song is started. But while Brook sings, he is not even shown.
For the fans, this is just another proof that Toei Animation would hate Sanji, as they write on Reddit. This running joke has built up over the years.

Where does this running joke come from? As some explain in the comments, there has been a persistent rumor for years that one of the directors at Toei Animation cannot stand Sanji.
They attribute this to the fact that a Japanese director cannot bear to see a Frenchman surpassing a Japanese samurai swordsman with his Western fighting skills. They refer to the rivalry between Sanji and Zoro.
Additionally, there are certain moments in the anime that do not appear in the manga and make Sanji seem weaker than he actually is. One example in the comments on Reddit is that Sanji is often tossed around in fights more than he would be in the original version.
