Airplanes take us to various places every day. Meanwhile, pilots must communicate with each other to carry out their job. Now, two pilots have gone viral after communicating with barking and meowing.
What is happening in the pilots’ cockpit? A video has surfaced on Youtube showing excerpts of the radio communication between the pilots and the air traffic controller. While the pilots communicate with simple “Meow” sounds, the air traffic controller intervenes.
He mildly admonishes: “You need to behave like professional pilots.” This is promptly met with several meows in response. Shortly after, one of the pilots barks at the air traffic controller over the radio. You can watch the video here:

What exactly is being reviewed? The Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, is the national aviation authority of the United States. According to their regulations, pilots are prohibited from conducting unnecessary conversations below 3,000 meters altitude.
A barking and meowing could certainly count as unnecessary conversations. The agency also states that “Conversations must relate to the safe operation of the aircraft.” Additionally, the radio communication is said to have taken place on an emergency frequency. The FAA reports that it is reviewing all situations in which pilots may have violated regulations (via economictimes.com).
What are the reactions to the incident? Many users under the video on Youtube are rather amused by the absurd incident. Many comments consist of puns with “Meow,” which mostly only make sense in English.
Several opinions about the seriousness of the situation can also be found under the video. For example, it is stated: “Don’t we have more important things to deal with?” or “This is not as serious as it has been portrayed.”
