The ARPG Last Epoch manages to attract many fans every time a new season starts. Now the developers also want to conquer the PS5.
What kind of game is this? Even though there is a competition between Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 for the throne of the ARPG genre, Last Epoch also plays a role time and again. The Jungle Season “Beneath Ancient Skies” attracted 80,000 players in August 2025, while Path of Exile 2, its predecessor, and Diablo 4 only reached about 12,000 players combined.
Content-wise, Last Epoch offers 5 classes each with 3 specializations and countless skills. Players will not miss out on an extensive skill tree in the ARPG. The crafting system is definitely better than in Path of Exile 2, allowing SOLO players to get good items without trading.
With up to 4 players in a group, adventures can be experienced not just alone, and soon this should also be possible on PS5.

PS5 Release and Major Expansion
What do the developers have planned? The developers of Last Epoch have announced the release of a PS5 version of their ARPG. While a specific date is not yet known, the game should be playable on the console when the next expansion is released.
Whether there will be crossplay is still unknown. However, it is clear that the developers will release the PS5 version directly with the new expansion Orobyss, and players on the console will not have to miss out on the latest update.
What do the developers want to change with Orobyss? While the developers will reveal the exact details of the update at a later date, in a post on playstation.com they do mention 3 points that the first expansion of the game will definitely include:
- New challenges to defeat
- New ways to enhance and create your character builds
- More loot and new items
It can be expected that the new expansion will also bring a new season, and players can accordingly expect new endgame mechanics and new maps.
Even though Last Epoch is probably the smallest competitor in the three-way race for the ARPG throne, the developers continually show that they should not be written off. To secure the future, the developers have also decided on a rather unpopular move: Publisher is now collaborating with competitors of Diablo 4, which were funded by fans, but now they are worried
