On October 5, 2026, Aion 2 will be released in the West, exclusively on PC. But what about Xbox and PS5? We will tell you what is known about the console version of the MMORPG.
Is Aion 2 coming to Xbox and PS5? The short answer: Not for now. The longer answer: NCSoft is reportedly already working on a console port of the MMORPG. The developers revealed this in a Japanese interview in July 2026. Note that they specifically asked about a PS5 implementation. Xbox was not a topic due to the local proximity to Sony.
There is currently no possible release timeframe for the console port. The developers, however, want to provide this as soon as possible, so that potential interested parties do not have to wait too long.
Does Aion 2 have controller support? The already released versions from Korea and Taiwan can be controlled with a controller, and the upcoming Steam version of Aion 2 is also expected to support controller input. However, reports indicate that there was criticism in the home market regarding the implementation, as the buttons on the controller cannot be easily remapped.
What about the mobile version? In Korea and Taiwan, Aion 2 has been released not only on PC but also for mobile devices. In the West, however, NCSoft wants to focus on the PC community and will not release the MMORPG for mobile.
Aion 2: Cross-Play and Cross-Progression
Are Cross-Play or Cross-Progression planned? We will likely find out only when there are official details about the console versions of Aion 2. However, the chances are good that NCSoft will support both. In Korea and Taiwan, both the PC and mobile versions of Aion 2 support Cross-Play as well as Cross-Progression.
- What is Cross-Play again? You can play with your friends even if you are playing on different platforms.
- What is Cross-Progression? Your progress is tied to your account, and you can switch between different platforms at any time.
What kind of MMORPG is Aion 2? Aion 2 is a new theme park MMORPG from NCSoft, set to release with a Free2Play model in late September or early October in the West. It primarily offers a wide range of PvE content, but also has some optional PvP challenges.
