Rockstar has announced an in-depth look at GTA 6. However, only viewers with a Netflix subscription can watch the trailer six hours before anyone else. This is not well received everywhere.
What is the problem with the new trailer? Rockstar has announced on X a new detailed look at GTA 6 for August 27, 2026. Unfortunately, it is still unknown what exactly will be shown. It could be extensive gameplay or a new cinematic trailer that further unravels the story.
The problem: The trailer will be exclusively released on Netflix. It will premiere at 9:00 PM Central European Time. However, only viewers who have a subscription to Netflix can watch the trailer.
Only 6 hours later, at 3:00 AM Central European Time, the video will be available for free on the official YouTube channel of Rockstar Games. The community is reacting very angrily to this decision under the announcement on X and criticizes it in strong terms.
Exclusivity of the new GTA-6 trailer is not well received
What do players say? The top comment under the post clearly expresses what he thinks of this approach. He calls it “next-level greed, scum, and wickedness.” Fans find it crazy to pay extra for an advertisement. In Germany, a Netflix subscription costs between €4.99 and €19.99, depending on which membership you choose.
One user summarizes the anger as follows, yet still expresses himself chosen:
I unfortunately have to pay for the Netflix service now. Well, I don’t want to complain about it – I didn’t use it before, but now I am forced to because of GTA 6. I will do it, but it’s not right; I hope no other company follows this example with such questionable practices. Anyway, thank you.
Overall, there are numerous other comments that trend in a more negative direction. Other users make jokes about this practice: One asks when the movie tickets for the fourth trailer will go online. Many also wonder why the premiere is supposed to take place on Netflix.
