Since the release of the second trailer for GTA 6 on May 6, 2025, fans have spent many hours analyzing the trailer. In the process, a new fan theory has received more hints.
What is this fan theory? A currently popular fan theory suggests that the male main character of the game is actually working undercover for the police or collaborating with them. The plot twist of the game could be that Jason betrays Lucia in the end and exposes the entire crime ring surrounding his employer, Brian.
Although Rockstar Games has not revealed anything in this direction yet, fans have found hints that are supposed to support their theory.

From Criminal to Undercover Cop
What hints have the fans found? To support their theory, fans gather information with each new trailer that may fit their suspicion. In the new trailer, the first scene that stands out is in the prison. Here, Jason picks up Lucia and is recognized by a guard. Jason reacts evasively, which the supporters of the theory interpret as a clue to his undercover role.
Later in the second trailer, Jason meets some gangsters. They immediately accuse him of being a “FED”. Feds are the federal officers or organizations like the FBI and DEA.
Another hint comes from a scene in the first trailer and a screenshot from the official website rockstargames.com. In the first trailer, there is a scene where a police SWAT team storms a house. One of the police officers has a similar build to Jason. In the screenshot, Jason is wearing a very similar outfit, which leads fans to conclude that Jason was the character in the operation.

In the second trailer, there is also a scene where a police officer says, “Cops need to protect each other,” which is suspicious because the story in GTA is always told based on the characters, and it seems neither Lucia nor Jason are present. Fans suspect that Rockstar Games did not want to reveal too much here, which is why the image was chosen in such a way that Jason is not visible.
What is Jason’s motive? Jason was previously in the army. Many ex-soldiers in the USA become police officers. It is possible that Jason did the same. Others believe Jason switched sides and made a deal with the state to free Lucia from prison earlier.
The fan theory picks its evidence from the existing material and is not really watertight. Whether the fans have really deciphered the big plot twist of GTA 6 remains to be seen.
