What changes to the roadmap? A total of 3 major features have been postponed. The Game Director explains that the previously announced deadlines can no longer be met in the usual quality due to the studio’s restructuring. The affected features are:
- The 12-player trial “Crimson Steppe”, originally planned for late summer. This presents a particular challenge for the developers with mounted combat.
- Update 52 will no longer arrive in the Fall/Winter 2026 timeframe, but is now scheduled for January 2027. It should include the PvP zone “Jerall Pass” as well as the dynamic events in Skyrim, also known as Tamriel.
- The next Class-&-Combat-Refresh is now expected in 2027. However, the developers are currently discussing interim solutions for the classes that have not yet received a refresh.

These contents will still come in 2026
Despite the changes, Season 2 is still set to start in 2026, and Season 1 will be further supported with additional content.

Our MMORPG expert Karsten had already predicted in mid-July that the Skyrim content planned for 2026 might not be released or only in a shrunk form. You can read his assessment here: Elder Scrolls Online had passionate leaders with whom they could negotiate the dungeons, but they are all gone now
