The developers of Black Desert Online have announced the discontinuation of their popular MMORPG on two consoles. However, players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can breathe a sigh of relief.
Which consoles will be discontinued? The developers of Black Desert Online announced in a new video on YouTube that they will shut down their MMORPG on PS4 and Xbox One X|S. From June 26, 2025, Black Desert Online will no longer be available on these consoles.
The developers explain that the reason for the discontinuation is that the hardware of the consoles is already being pushed to its limits. Future updates might simply not run smoothly on the older consoles.

What will happen to the console players? All save files, characters, and achievements on your account will be retained. Although the old consoles will be shut down on June 26, 2025, players can continue playing on a new version on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Black Desert Online is expected to run better with this new version and continue to receive updates in the future. Players who have previously played the MMORPG on their old console will not incur any additional costs. The new update will be provided free of charge by the developers.
The MMORPG is already available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, this version is for the older console generation, which has been made playable through backward compatibility. From the end of June, the consoles will receive their own, native version.
