How important is the faction choice in Aion 2? By choosing a faction, you influence several areas and details in Aion 2:
- The servers are faction-specific, so you will only encounter players from your faction in the open world.
- Both factions have their own regions, starting areas, and quest routes.
- The choice of faction affects the appearance of characters and faction-specific skill effects.
- Your faction determines which side you play on in PvP content such as the battles in the Abyss.
However, the choice of faction is not relevant regarding the class offering of Aion 2. All 8 archetypes are available to both factions. It is also important that instanced content (such as dungeons and PvP arenas) and the auction houses work across factions. Below, we will take a closer look at the individual differences.
Elyos or Asmodian – what does it mean?
What do I need to know about the servers? To avoid unwanted PvP conflicts in the open world, the servers of Aion 2 run faction-exclusive. You will only encounter characters from the other faction when participating in instanced content, Abyss battles, or certain events.
If you want to play together with your friends, you should coordinate your faction and server choice!
As proud Elyos, you will start in the southern Elysea, where light-filled, colorful landscapes and ancient temples await you. The hardened Asmodians, on the other hand, are at home in the snowy canyons and dark fortresses of northern Asmodae.
How does the faction choice affect appearance? First and foremost, the iconic wings stand out. While Elyos typically have angelic, white or golden wings, the counterparts of the Asmodians are dark and leathery-bat-like.
Elyos also shine with symmetrical facial features and light skin tones. They represent a smooth aesthetic and noble design. The Asmodians, on the other hand, have pale bluish skin, a grim expression, and distinctive features such as predator-like claws, a back mane, and glowing eyes in combat.
Corresponding to this are the effects of some skills, which for the Elyos are based on light and speed, while Asmodians tend to deal shadow damage and raw power.
Can I change factions? The choice of faction is so essential that you cannot simply change it in Aion 2. If you are dissatisfied with your first choice and want to test the other side, you must create a new character.
What is Aion 2? Aion 2 is a new theme park MMORPG from NCSoft that will be released with a free-to-play model at the end of September or the beginning of October in the West.
