What kind of game is this? Final Fantasy XIV is one of the most popular MMORPGs here in the West. It launched weakly in 2011 and only won the hearts of players with the major overhaul “A Realm Reborn” in 2013.
Through regular content updates and expansions like the latest Dawntrail, this MMORPG currently offers a lot of content, especially for new players. They can play up to level 80 and the content of the Shadowbringers expansion since a recent update.
The MMORPG is reminiscent of classic Japanese RPGs, due to its strong focus on story. In the endgame, you will encounter many challenging raids and tasks. However, you will have to get used to the combat system, which appears sluggish and slow, especially at the beginning.
What content does it offer? Final Fantasy XIV offers everything an MMORPG heart desires:

The all-time high is 95,102 simultaneous active players. Since there is a separate launcher for FFXIV and you can also play the MMORPG on consoles, the total number of active players is higher.

Who should play this MMORPG? FFXIV is mainly aimed at fans of Final Fantasy and players who enjoy visiting dungeons and raids or appreciate a strong story focus.
Despite the sluggish start and criticism of Dawntrail, this MMORPG is one of the best in the genre, and due to the changes in Free2Play, every MMO fan should at least try it once.
