What kind of game is this? Old School RuneScape is the even older version of RuneScape, which has since been developed quite differently. The game was released in 2013, but based on the version that RuneScape had in 2007.

Meanwhile, the old title has been expanded with new content, though still relying on the same virtues of group play, grind, and a “hack and slash” control system. Every new feature must also receive 75 percent approval from the players before being implemented by the developers.

What do the Steam reviews say? So far, Old School RuneScape has received 20,250 reviews. 82 percent of them are positive. In comparison, the counter was at 88 percent positive in January. Even more than RuneScape, the shitstorm from early 2025 had an impact on user ratings.

The developers have recovered. Afterwards, for a time, a strong 86 percent of the new reviews were positive. Looking at the past 30 days, the 149 new reviews only have 78 percent. One reason for this could be the renewed price increases for the subscription.
