What kind of game is this? Guild Wars Reforged is a full-scale, lightly modernized version of the 20-year-old MMORPG classic Guild Wars. You should not expect a major remake. The package includes:
- all three campaigns of Guild Wars, namely Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall
- overhauled user interface, controller support, additional settings (e.g., for text size), and support for modern monitors
- graphic updates for dynamic bloom effects in the sky, improved lighting, and optimized textures
- increased user-friendliness through a new quest tracking system and a control guide
- verification for the Steam Deck

What defines the first Guild Wars? There are several reasons why Guild Wars was voted by MeinMMO readers as Rank 6 of the best MMORPGs of all time last year. For example, the varied game world designed with three continents: Tyria, Cantha, and Elona.
The travels through the different areas are accompanied by catchy musical pieces composed by the award-winning composer Jeremy Soule, which are among the best in the genre. Additionally, there is a character system where players can combine classes, creating a death knight from a warrior and a necromancer, for instance.
Some veterans from back then also rave about the namesake guild wars, the community spirit, exciting PvP battles, hard-fought successes on the guild world ranking, and the shared moments in the guild hall.
What do the Steam reviews say? The new Reforged version is being very well received by the community. Of the 3,087 reviews to date, a strong 87 percent are positive. The 139 reviews from the past 30 days have been 80 percent positive. In the few negative reviews, players criticize the outdated gaming experience. However, most people celebrate the nostalgia trip.
How many players does it have on Steam? In the past 30 days, there has been an average of 649 players online. The peak during this time was 1,405 concurrent players. The all-time high is 5,580. With the own launcher and the new mobile version, the total number is likely much higher.
Who is this MMORPG for? Especially for fans of the first Guild Wars who want to relive their gaming experience. However, the Reforged version is also interesting for all genre fans who missed the MMORPG back then and now want to catch up in the best possible version.
