It’s time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in 5 Minutes”. We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. You can expect lots of info on Guild Wars 3, a comeback of EverQuest and the early access of a sci-fi MMO.
Highlights of the week:
- Although there was the announcement of Guild Wars 3 last week, the past days were clearly marked by the new ArenaNet MMORPG.
- The responsible people at ArenaNet held a livestream to talk about the future of Tyria. They dropped some exciting info nuggets, including about player numbers.
- The developers also explained what will happen with Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.
- ArenaNet remained present in the second half of the week and released further info about the future of Guild Wars. The focus of the latest article or video is mainly on the setting and world of Guild Wars 3.
- Guild Wars 3 will be the first game in the series to have controller support at launch. MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann is pleased about this. Previously, controller support was either completely absent or poorly implemented.
- NCSoft commented on the supposed competition situation between Aion 2 and Guild Wars 3 and explained why the two MMORPGs would actually complement each other perfectly.
- Also cool: Guild Wars 3 builds on a strength of its predecessors, your wallets will celebrate it.
What else has happened? We are currently preparing for the MMORPG-themed week that will also take place this year and are in contact with various studios and industry icons to create exciting and interesting articles for all MMORPG fans. Until it starts, you can help us and choose your MMORPG of the future.

- Sometimes you also have to be lucky in World of Warcraft. It only cost 1 silver, what is otherwise worth tens of thousands of gold.
- From June 16, you can secure a new Twitch drop for WoW with Cozy Cotton Candy Grrgle. You can find the info on the official WoW website.
- Players of World of Warcraft repeatedly report unfair bans. An affected veteran has now taken the time to detail his case in a video.

- The free update 50 has been released for Elder Scrolls Online and has the most important innovation for the world of Tamriel since “One Tamriel” in 2016.
- Update 50 is still fresh, but there is already a preview of the next patch for ESO. Update 51 is expected to launch on August 31, 2026 and will initiate a hybridization initiative, which includes a restructuring of alchemy and adjustments to Mundus stones. The details can be found at elderscrollsonline.com.
- With the expansion “Frozen Division: Nyx”, Throne and Liberty is getting a new weapon type: the gauntlets. A preview of the weapon has now gone live on the official MMORPG website.

- RuneScape has received one of the most important updates in recent years as part of the “Road to Restoration” and fulfilled a frequently mentioned wish from the community.
- The developers of Tibia presented two important innovations for the MMORPG on the official website: the Echo Raids, which are supposed to bring more variance to the hunts, and the Discovery System, which is receiving a modernization for greater comfort and rewards.

This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- ArcheAge Chronicles is one of the most exciting new MMORPGs in 2026. Now the developers have shown combat gameplay for the first time. The clip splits the community into two camps. A playtest is possibly starting on Monday as part of the Steam Next Fest.
- BitCraft Online has received an update that has introduced jewelry as a new equipment type, 3 new character stats, and 4 fresh regions to the game. You can find the patch notes on Steam.
- In the new MMO Stars Reach by legendary developer Raph Koster, you can expect a huge game world full of random events that are supposed to make the use of a wiki impossible. At least that’s the plan.
- Aion 2 is scheduled to be released here in September 2026, but you can already secure the first special mounts. MeinMMO tells you what you need to do.
- SpaceCraft has entered paid early access on Steam. Unfortunately, it doesn’t even know exactly whether it wants to be a Satisfactory MMO, a compact No Man’s Sky, or a sandbox grind like Bannerlord. The result currently plays very boringly. Correspondingly poor are the reviews. Feel free to check out the preview report from colleague André Baumgartner on GameStar.
- EverQuest Legends will be released on July 28, 2026, and will have a Buy2Play and subscription model. The purchase price will be around $19.99, and the subscription will be $9.99 per month. Starting June 16, a pre-order phase will run, which qualifies you for the beta on July 1 and name reservation. You can find a FAQ about the launch at everquestlegends.com. The remake of the first EverQuest from 1999 aims to provide an experience tailored to solo players and small groups.
