A player spent several thousand hours in Guild Wars 2 and hopes for the absence of one thing in the next part, Guild Wars 3.
What bothers the Guild Wars 2 player? A player writes as Reddit user FlyingJellyfishRidin in the subreddit for Guild Wars 2, venting his frustration. Because even though he probably likes the game, one thing bothers him a lot: the dialogues. Apparently, the player knows exactly what he is criticizing, as he claims to have spent several thousand hours in Guild Wars 2.
Especially after the first paid expansion Heart of Thorns
, the story reportedly declined significantly for the player. Especially the dialogues of the Kodan are said to be almost unbearable for the user. He wonders why the Kodan have such long dialogue passages, when they are the ones who would speak very slowly. Because of this quirk, it takes 45 minutes before players can do anything themselves in the expansion Janthir Wilds
, he writes on Reddit.
Most of all, the player FlyingJellyfishRidin is annoyed that you cannot skip dialogues. He praises the cutscenes that were available at the launch of Guild Wars 2. There, you could read the dialogue yourself and skip it if necessary.
There is already a trailer for Guild Wars 3:
Too much told, too little shown
What do other players think? For Guild Wars 3, FlyingJellyfishRidin wishes that these quirks would be improved. Other players also join the criticism under the Reddit post or complain about similar issues:
- User Ankior notes, for example:
My main criticism of the story of GW2, especially in the later sections, is that there is too much told and too little shown, that much happens in the background, or that simply only the past is spoken about. My fondest memories of the story are the things I was able to do or see myself.
- Saint Nutella does not share all the viewpoints of the thousand-hour player:
I absolutely do not believe that the quality of the story has declined after “HoT”. I just recently completed “HoT”, and the story was probably the worst part of this expansion, lol. The game absolutely thrives on the incredible maps and game mechanics.
For the third part of the Guild Wars series, one can only hope that the developers will improve the shortcomings that players criticize. MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann is already looking forward to Guild Wars 3 for a very special reason: Guild Wars 3 promises a feature at launch that I have been waiting for 20 years
