Anyone who likes WoW Hardcore and German streamers is in for a lot of laughs today. Because the probably biggest German WoW event starts today
Over a year ago, the guild “OnlyFangs” in World of Warcraft Hardcore was a huge success. Many streamers from around the world joined together in a guild to try to achieve great success in the classic version of WoW — on a HC realm. This means: If a character dies, you must start over.
Following this example, many German streamers are now attempting such a project, which has been named “Sauercrowd” — and today, on December 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM, it will kick off on the various streaming channels of the participants.
What kind of event is this? Sauercrowd is a guild in WoW Classic that mainly consists of German-speaking streamers. Among them are many veterans of World of Warcraft, but also complete newcomers who have just taken their first steps in the classic hardcore variant of WoW in recent days.
200 German streamers, with only one goal: Don’t fail embarrassingly
Who is participating? For many long-time WoW fans, this is likely to be a quite nostalgic event, as alongside current streamers like Rumathra, Noway4u, or Pietsmiet, there are also some figures from the German streaming scene, such as Stevinho, whom many still know from “Allimania” or the German singer Jan Hegenberg, who has even dedicated a new song to the guild project:
The song was written by Hegenberg after he had previously performed some classics in the Cathedral of Stormwind.
Whether you have been a WoW fan for 20 years or just follow the various current streamers a little – Sauercrowd promises to be a highlight that will surely produce many funny moments and a lot of guild drama with amusing hardcore deaths.
In total, there are over 200 German-speaking streamers participating in the event. Who else is involved, we have revealed in this article.
If you want to see which streamers are currently live, you can do so on the Sauercrowd website at any time.
What makes it appealing? To keep the project exciting, the participants have imposed special rules. All use an addon that features a “Proximity Voice Chat” — meaning conversations in voice chat with others are possible as soon as you come near them in the game world. Additionally, many usual hardcore rules are active. Besides permanent death, there are additional restrictions, such as prohibiting trade with other characters and not accessing the auction house.
If someone loses their character, they can, however, rejoin the event — but only with a new character that must start again from level 1.
Although the longevity of the project is not yet guaranteed, there is a rough plan: At least until mid-January, the whole thing will be carried out, with the goal of defeating Ragnaros in the Molten Core. It’s actually not a difficult task — but if each character only has a single life, even the smallest mistake can have devastating consequences.
Whether the project goes off without a hitch remains to be seen. The chosen anniversary realm Soulseeker could buckle under the onslaught of many fans of the streamers. In the last few days, there have already been long waiting times when logging in, and there have even been up to 12 layers of individual areas, all of which were packed. This, in turn, leads to lags and delays — exactly what you don’t want in a game where every mistake can mean the end.
Just during the “rehearsals” for the event, there were a few funny incidents – German streamers have, for example, unintentionally reenacted an embarrassing incident involving the streamer PirateSoftware.
