On Sunday, April 19, during the CAGGTUS Leipzig 2026, there was an incident of physical violence. A player punched his opponent in the face during the award ceremony of the CS2 tournament.
What was the incident? The CAGGTUS is a gaming festival hosted by the Leipzig Messe, which has been welcoming thousands of guests annually since 2023 and offers Germany’s largest LAN area, where LAN tournaments in various games are played, including Counter-Strike 2 (short CS2).
The final of the CS2 tournament was contested on Saturday, April 18, by the teams “Legendenlobbys” and “Full Shock”. As a result, there was an incident of physical violence on Sunday (via Twitch).
The CS2 player and Twitch streamer “MAUschine” from the runner-up team “Full Shock” punched his opponent “Spidergum” from “Legendenlobby” in the face as the players of the top three teams gathered for the award ceremony on stage at CAGGTUS.
What were the circumstances? During the final, Spidergum provoked his opponent by reportedly shouting a quote from MAUschine loudly through the LAN area of CAGGTUS. Later, MAUschine watched a clip of the scene and reacted with the words: “If I had seen that earlier, I would have knocked him out” (via Twitch). When he later ended his stream, he allegedly told his viewers not to miss the award ceremony the following day. However, the recording of the stream has since been deleted.
Organizers comment on the incident at CAGGTUS 2026
This is what the organizers say: We approached the organizers of CAGGTUS about the incident and requested a statement. Here you can read the statement from CAGGTUS Leipzig:
We take the incident very seriously and are currently carefully considering any legal action against the aggressor to respond appropriately to this incident. The person was immediately removed from the stage after the incident.
Of course, we at Leipzig Messe work with comprehensive security concepts for events like CAGGTUS Leipzig – details of which will not be shared publicly.
For procedural reasons, we will not comment further on the incident at this time, but we will keep our community informed as soon as we can share updates. In any case, we want to emphasize that we strictly reject all forms of violence – whether physical or verbal provocation. We have a community at CAGGTUS that also subscribes to these values and is committed to an inclusive, safe, and respectful festival.
These are the other consequences of the action: For MAUschine, the assault has already had its first consequences outside of CAGGTUS. The DACH CS Masters announced that the streamer is banned from their events for at least 10 years and that the incident has also been reported to the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC).
The Esports Integrity Commission has previously issued several long-term penalties, even though acts of violence are rather rare. One very well-known penalty that the ESIC imposed in the past affected former Counter-Strike pro “forsaken,” who is allowed to play again after a 5-year ban since 2024: E-sport athlete destroyed his career on camera, became a laughingstock – Now he is allowed to play again
