Many MMORPG fans wish for a new, perfect game tailored to their desires. However, the genre is characterized by lengthy development work, which has resulted in a drought of MMORPGs in recent years. Now, this could change forever, and the role model is WoW Classic.
What is this project about? A hobby programmer has accomplished what many can only dream of: He has developed his own MMORPG. Following the example of WoW Classic, there are 9 classes, three zones, and currently about 60 quests.
After the experience-based leveling phase, players enter the endgame, which features real 5-player dungeons with elite enemies and proper bosses with mechanics. Of course, you share the world with other players, can create groups, trade your equipment, and engage in combat with strangers.
Everything that a typical MMORPG offers, but it wasn’t possible without help.

The Work of a Forbidden AI
What’s the deal with the AI? That a hobby programmer can accomplish such a work in just a few days sounds impossible. Nevertheless, he managed to do it, using the forbidden AI Fable 5. The AI was taken offline after a few days due to concerns about cybersecurity from the U.S. government (Source: Deutschlandfunk).
Currently, only users from the USA can use the tool. Instead of addressing security flaws, the player had the AI develop his MMORPG “World of ClaudeCraft,” and it works surprisingly well!
How good is “World of ClaudeCraft”? Early users report how great the MMORPG is. They have played demos for MMORPGs that, after years of human development, weren’t as good as ClaudeCraft, claims mmorpg.com.
On Reddit, players say:
- VelveteenDelta: “I went in with low expectations and was completely blown away. Miles better than any other ‘vibecoded’ game I’ve seen so far. This is insane.”
- count023: “It’s disturbingly impressive how quickly this turned around. You should try giving Opus the same tasks for comparison to see how close the results are. That would be a great use case to compare the effectiveness of the two.”
- alexkiddinmarioworld: “It’s a cool experiment, but the old trap lurks: If this is possible in a few days, what could it be in… This usually doesn’t scale linearly and gets very expensive very quickly.”
If you want, you can try the AI MMORPG yourself for free at worldofclaudecraft.com.
World of ClaudeCraft is probably just the first prominent example of how well and easily the best genre in the world can be advanced with AI in the future. Do you believe AI will lead to more MMORPGs? Or do you think AI can’t create anything you’ll enjoy? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
