Subnautica 2 is the continuation of the popular survival game, where you can once again explore the depths of the underwater world. Many are eagerly awaiting the release, and thanks to Early Access, it won’t be long now.
What kind of game is Subnautica 2? Subnautica 2 is, like its predecessor, a survival adventure where you must explore and survive in an underwater world, either alone or with up to four players. Your home has been plagued by conflicts, and to escape this, you are on a journey to a new paradise with a colony ship where humanity can thrive.
Unfortunately, there were technical difficulties that caused you to be stranded on an unknown planet. Your task now is to gather resources, build your base, and survive. With polished graphics, you will dive into the adventure of the sequel.

Subnautica 2: Release and Early Access
When does the release start? The release will begin on May 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM German time, but initially in Early Access. The game is not yet fully developed, so don’t expect extensive features – these will only be available during the development period with new updates. Depending on where you are on Earth, the release times will vary:

How much will Subnautica 2 cost? In the official blog post (source: www.unknownworlds.com) about the release, the developers of Unknown Worlds have already announced the price. There will be slight differences depending on the region, but generally, the game will cost $29.99, approximately €30 in Germany.
Additionally, those who purchase Subnautica 2 during Early Access will receive future updates free until the release of version 1.0 and beyond.

Will there be different editions? Currently, there is no information about whether there will be special editions upon the release of version 1.0.
Will Subnautica 2 be available in the Game Pass? Those who own Game Pass Ultimate will be able to play Subnautica 2 “for free” – that’s €21 per month. So, if you are a subscriber anyway, you can comfortably check out Early Access.
Subnautica 2: Crossplay and Platforms
Is there crossplay at release? According to the developers, there will be cross-platform multiplayer available at release. Players on Xbox will be able to connect with fans on Steam to explore the depths of the seas together.
On which platforms will Subnautica 2 be released? For Early Access, only the release for PC (Steam & Epic Games) and Xbox is currently planned. PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 will be left out for the time being. There are no details yet on whether access for the other platforms will be unlocked during the Early Access period. However, it is possible that you will have to wait until the release of version 1.0.
