The Dutch streamer smokey1981_nl was suddenly surprised by a police officer during his stream. He had fallen asleep and concerned viewers called emergency services.
This is what happened: The streamer was in the middle of a match in Valorant when he suddenly started to droop and eventually collapsed.
While the stream and his round of Valorant continued, his head was lowered and there was no reaction from him.
For several minutes, smokey sat there motionless, and the viewers in the stream were apparently worried about him. One viewer even went so far as to call the police.
Twitch stream is interrupted by paramedics
Here the streamer falls asleep: First, we embed the excerpt where the streamer slowly slumps down and falls asleep:
In the chat, viewers speculated whether smokey had simply fallen asleep or if he had a health issue that caused him to collapse.
The viewer “NotThatDifficult” then wrote: “It doesn’t look like he’s sleeping. I called emergency services to be sure. I only know his name and have heard about his hometown.
This is how he was then awakened: The few details from the viewer were definitely enough, as shortly after, loud knocking at the door could be heard in the stream.
Then, suddenly, one could see the arm of a police officer in the stream waking up the streamer. He appeared to have actually been asleep, as he woke up slowly and was then completely surprised to see police officers in the room:
In the stream, one can hear the police officer asking: “What’s wrong with you? Is everything okay?” smokey is visibly puzzled and asks back: “Why is the police here?” After that, he mutes his microphone and no one hears anything more.
How does the streamer react to the situation? After the police left, smokey appeared angry. He then said: “Who the hell called the police? My whole door is destroyed! […] Suddenly there were 4 police officers here. Who called? The entire door is broken. Now I can’t even close it anymore.”
In the end, nothing apparently happened to the streamer health-wise. He only complains about the destroyed door.
It can also turn out differently: On Twitch, there are also repeated abuses of emergency services. Numerous streamers have already been “swatted”. There, viewers called the police and reported an emergency. They, of course, take emergency calls seriously and barge into the streamer’s apartment, even though there is no emergency.
This happened, for example, to the Fortnite world champion Bugha, who was surprised live on Twitch by the police.
And a broken door is probably also manageable when compared to another streamer’s situation. That one had to end his stream involuntarily as well. However, it was not due to the police but because a car crashed into his house in the middle of the stream:
