The Twitch streamer and YouTuber BastiGHG has taken on a particularly difficult challenge in Minecraft. After 113 hours, he shares his emotional finale and his stumbling blocks.
What kind of challenge has BastiGHG completed? The well-known Twitch streamer in Minecraft circles set himself the task of completing Minecraft – but not in the usual way. Instead, he used a modification that ensured that blocks, enemies, and animals in the world dropped no loot. To obtain materials, he had to find a block displayed to him and received random loot that was thereafter always dropped from that specific type of block.
The player had to somehow obtain the essential items through these random block drops to activate a portal in the stronghold and ultimately defeat the Ender Dragon. In his video on YouTube, he shares his success, having completed the challenge in about 113 hours.
What sounds like a manageable amount of time becomes particularly exciting when you consider that he spent about 60 hours searching for just one block and invested several weeks of “real world” time doing so.
Stumbling block by stumbling block to the Ender Dragon
What did he need 60 hours for? The step that cost him the most time was finding the diamond block when it was his turn. To find such a block at all, BastiGHG had to specifically search for woodland mansions. Only there can secret lava rooms be created under very rare circumstances, which contain a diamond block.
Because the chances are so low, the player covered about half a million blocks in his world and invested a total of about 60 hours. It was only in the eleventh woodland mansion he found that he finally came across the sought-after secret rooms containing the diamond block.
Were there other steps that took a long time? Overall, it took about 112 of the 113 hours for BastiGHG to hold the necessary Ender Pearls for the portal in his hands. He spent 12 hours desperately searching for broken deep slate, which he stated was significantly more nerve-racking for him than finding the diamond block. This was partly because he had to go underground for that, where it was much more difficult to search for the rare material.
Since ancient cities can generate various entrance types (often the wrong variants with wood or ladders), the player repeatedly had to dig into deep mountains. It was only in the eighth ancient city he found that the correct entrance module with the sought-after material finally appeared.

Minecraft continually invites various streamers and content creators to absurd challenges. For example, one player has set himself the task of reaching a legendary location and collecting money for a good cause. However, unlike BastiGHG, it took him years for his challenge: Player has been walking through Minecraft for 14 years to reach a special place, collecting over 400,000 € for charity
