Walder Frey has more children than he can count. Accordingly, he cared little for his individual sons and daughters. He married them off as it suited him for his own advantage – practically sold them like cattle. For simplicity, many even carry the name Walder or Walda. It would be quite terrible if one had to remember a new name for each new child.
When his wife’s life was threatened during the Red Wedding, he remained completely unfazed. He could simply find a new one. It’s pretty much the same with his children. If a few die, it’s not that big of a deal. There are still plenty of others.
To Walder Frey, his children were nothing more than tools to gain more power. Genuine love or care was completely foreign to him. Moreover, due to the large number of children, there was constant strife over his inheritance. There is definitely better to be said than to be descended from the old Walder.
