In Subnautica 2 you create an explorer before your journey, with which you can then scour the expanses of the ocean. What is available for Early Access can be found here.
How many characters are available? According to the developers of Subnautica 2, there will be up to 4 selectable characters at the start of Early Access. More options are to be added over time. The pioneers include two male and female characters, which are named as follows:
- Triage
- Felix
- Stone
- Tether
Unfortunately, their proportions on the body or face cannot be adjusted. However, what can change are the colors of your diving suit. You have 6 colors to choose from:
- Orange
- Light Blue
- Green
- Red
- Yellow
- Purple
What is so interesting about the pioneers? All explorers have their own names, but these, except for Felix, seem much more like designations for something else. Tether is the English term for “to bind” or “to tie up”. Perhaps this is a hint that the characters will also be given talents later on in the development.
Tether might then be the one who can bind enemies or objects to fix them in place. Stone might be the best person to help with resource extraction. Of course, this is just speculation on our part, but the idea doesn’t seem so far-fetched. Time will tell if the developers will implement such a feature for the characters or if it is merely coincidence that they are named that way.
