In Dune: Awakening a player made a strange discovery. Before his eyes, a huge giraffe appeared, walking through the world. The community knows immediately what it’s all about.

What was that appearance? In Dune: Awakening, there are few animals on the arid desert planet Arrakis. However, player SuperMW5768 recently made a big discovery on Reddit. A giraffe walked through the game world on his screen.

But instead of being a bug, this is a feature that many players have missed so far. The community clarifies the incident.

Spice hallucinations at your fingertips

What about the giraffe? The giraffe that the user saw on his screen was not a bug; on the contrary, it belongs to Dune: Awakening and is intentionally in the game. As users explain on Reddit, the giraffes are part of the spice hallucinations in the game.

If players consume a lot of spice and go through cold withdrawal, they experience hallucinations that change the game world. Other players report about their trips on Reddit:

Since spice hallucinations appear only rarely, many players are surprised when they actually see one. Even though the game explains the mechanics in the first hours, many gamers have already forgotten this mechanism by the time they encounter it.

In Dune: Awakening, there are numerous mechanics and features that make life easier for you on Arrakis. However, many of them are discovered by players only after spending over 100 hours in the game.

In Dune: Awakening, you will encounter other players in an MMO setting. You are on servers with up to 40 players, also known as Sietches. In the social hubs like Arrakeen and Harko Village, the large cities of the game, it can get quite crowded – here, hundreds of players gather simultaneously.

What features are we talking about? After many hours in the survival MMO, players are now finding out that they can trade with other players. Others are just stumbling upon the existence of a bank where they can safely store their Solaris (the in-game currency). Both can make life in the desert much easier.

“Wait, there’s a bank?”

What have players discovered? In a post on Reddit, a user shows through a meme that after 125 hours, he learned that there is a marketplace in Dune: Awakening. In the auction house, you can trade items and resources with other players in the main cities. And the user is not the only one who is currently discovering “new” features.

The top comment comes from soviman1. He writes: “It’s actually a crime that this feature is so little known. Amazingly, many players don’t even know that there is a bank – and just walk around with over 100,000 Solaris.” Lilbuzz27 replies that he has just discovered the auction house and is now hearing for the first time that there is also a bank.

Other players confess that they still have no idea how they are supposed to pay their taxes. Once you have an advanced console in your base, you are required to give Solaris to tax representatives – who you can also find in the main cities. If you don’t pay, or let your generators run dry, the protection of your hideout will disappear. And that means: Your base is practically open to everyone in the desert.

By the way, the bank is not only a vault for Solaris. Items can also be safely stored there. So if you take a break from the game and don’t want to lose important loot, you can simply store it there. Even if your base is destroyed, your treasures remain safely in the bank.

Why do players find out so late? Many wonder why these features have remained under the radar for so long. User PugnansFidicen is also surprised, as there is even a story quest that explicitly asks you to deposit money in the bank. The fact that players rush to the endgame but have seen barely anything of the story is a topic of ongoing discussion.
