How are the ships categorized in Windrose? In total, you can expect 9 ships, which are each divided into three categories:
- Ketch
- Brigantine
- Frigate
The ships have certain advantages and disadvantages. It is important to know which of the ships are among the best so you don’t visit the bottom of the sea. In our list, we divide all examples into their categories and show you which bonuses and specifications they come with.

Which is the best ship? We recommend you stick with the “Stock” model. The ship has a good speed and a decent amount of hit points to keep you afloat at the start. Even though the Blackbeard can accommodate larger cannons, an upgrade isn’t worth it, as you will quickly switch to the next best class, the Brigantine – so save your materials.

Which is the best ship? As a second ship, we recommend the Blackbeard Brigantine for good reason: This beast has incredible speed, has the same amount of hit points as the Stock Ketch, but can accommodate 6 pieces of a 24lb cannon, which is devastating in capable hands. However, be prepared to maneuver this ship more nimbly to survive, but that should be no problem at 22 knots.

Which is the best ship? As for the frigate, you should also go for the Blackbeard. It is the fastest of all available frigates, but has the lowest “Life Pool”. With 12 pieces of a 36lb cannon, this shouldn’t matter, because your opponents won’t stand a chance to react once hit by a volley.
