Upgrading your weapons is an important part of Elden Ring. To do this, you also need the corresponding smithing stones. With sound pearls, you can buy these infinitely. MeinMMO shows you their locations.

What are sound pearls? These are items that you can hand over to the NPC merchant “Twin Maiden Husks” at the Roundtable Hold. In exchange, their offerings will be expanded with new items, depending on which sound pearl you hand over.

Especially important are the smithing stone miner’s sound pearl and the dark smithing stone miner’s sound pearl. These provide the important smithing stones and dark smithing stones that you can use to upgrade your weapons.

Why is this important? Without the sound pearls, you are dependent on items in the game world and the random drop chance from certain enemies to find smithing stones.

This makes you significantly more limited. With the sound pearls, all tiers are available for purchase, you just need to collect runes. Since Patch 1.05, once found sound pearls are also carried over to New Game Plus.

We will reveal to you where to find them and what upgrade materials you can buy with them.

Elden Ring: All Locations for the Smithing Stone Miner’s Sound Pearls

This is how upgrading with smithing stones works: Smithing stones are for your “normal” weapons, that is, all that are not legendary or from boss echoes. In total, you can upgrade these weapons up to +25.

You can unlock smithing stones of levels 1-8 through sound pearls at the merchant. There are a total of 5 sound pearls of the smithing stone miner. Here are their locations:

For Smithing Stones 1 & 2 – Sound Pearl of the Smithing Stone Miner 1

Here you can find them:

• The sound pearl is located in the northern Lake Area of Liurnia, northeast of the Academy of Raya Lucaria.
• There you will find the Crystal Tunnel of Seliana. Defeat the boss and you will receive the sound pearl.

For Smithing Stones 3 & 4 – Sound Pearl of the Smithing Stone Miner 2

Here you can find them:

• The second sound pearl is located in the Sealed Tunnel leading to the Sacred Tower of West Altus. It is hidden in a chest behind some wooden crates and other junk.
• The hiding place is not far from the main entrance; go through the entrance tunnel and keep to the right against the wall.

For Smithing Stones 5 & 6 – Sound Pearl of the Smithing Stone Miner 3

Here you can find them:

• This sound pearl is located at the Mountain Summit of the Giants, hidden in the ruins of Zamor. From the Site of Grace, you need to go west.
• In a larger area of the ruins, there is a staircase leading to an underground area with a treasure chest. There you will find it.

For Smithing Stones 7 & 8 – Sound Pearl of the Smithing Stone Miner 4

Here you can find them:

• The last sound pearl of the smithing stone miner is hidden in the Ruined Farum Azula.
• It is located not far from the grace “Dragon Communion Altar,” as a reward for the boss fight against the Godskin Duo.
