In Cyberpunk 2077 you can easily miss iconic weapons by not completing the corresponding quests, overlooking them, or even (accidentally) scrapping them. With the new DLC Phantom Liberty, that’s no longer a problem, as the black market has all iconic weapons in stock.
What are iconic weapons?
- Iconic weapons are special variants of existing weapons with a unique appearance. They fit a specific theme.
- In the base game of Cyberpunk 2077, there are 48 iconic weapons to find. You can obtain them through quests, find them, or craft them.
- With the upcoming DLC Phantom Liberty, even more iconic weapons are set to be added to the game, along with the option to easily purchase them.
Here’s how you get the weapons: Phantom Liberty adds a new area to Night City. Dogtown is considered the district where you can get everything you need in terms of weapons. There’s also a black market.
This is exactly where there are traders selling iconic weapons. A tip introduced in Update 2.0 on the loading screen gives a hint (via Reddit). It says: ‘Missed the chance to get an iconic weapon? Visit a black market trader in Dogtown.’
So, if you’ve accidentally dismantled or simply not found iconic weapons, you can easily buy them with Phantom Liberty. However, we don’t know yet how much the weapons will cost.
‘Does this mean I don’t need guides anymore?’
Users on Reddit are excited about this news. Previously, dozens of guides had to be read to find out how to get certain weapons – or to discover which weapons even exist. With Phantom Liberty, a visit to the black market is enough.
However, the usefulness of the weapons is still questioned. Often, the iconic weapons are worse than their base versions, which you repeatedly find better versions of by chance. The iconic weapons are only found once.
However, iconic weapons can be upgraded, which significantly improves their stats. Whether they can compete with weapons that you find several levels later remains to be seen. At least fans want to fill the collection wall.
