Thanks to Chinese laws, games with loot box systems must now disclose the odds of the various contents within. Following League of Legends and Overwatch, CS:GO now also shows the chances of getting a special skin.

Since CS:GO has now officially launched in China, the drop probabilities of the loot boxes must be revealed.
Anyone who has opened a crate in the past knows how much they would love to get a cool knife or the valuable AWP skin “Dragon Lore” as a reward. To give you an idea of how valuable the tradable skins from CS:GO are and why they are so popular: The Dragon Lore skin is currently priced at €1600 on the Steam market.
The local partner of Valve, Perfect World, announced the loot box odds. Since the announcement is in Chinese, Reddit user oOMeowthOo translated it for the other forum users.
Despite the translation, the loot chances are still not clear, as Perfect World provided them based on individual rarity levels. They stated how rare a yellow item is compared to a red item, a pink item, and so on.
It is possible that such an opaque announcement was made intentionally to disclose the odds but remain unclear. However, there are diligent Reddit users who shed light on the matter.
The top comment was made by user hansjc, who explains the loot probabilities when opening 125.12 cases based on the values provided by Perfect World. Statistically, if you open 125.12 cases, you will receive 100 blue items. From there, the loot odds of CS:GO are as follows:
- Blue – 100 items – 79.92% chance
- Purple – 20 items – 15.98% chance
- Pink – 4 items – 3.2% chance
- Red – 0.8 items – 0.64% chance
- Yellow – 0.32 items – 0.26% chance
The chance of an item dropping as a Stat-Trak version is further reduced by 10% and is thus at 0.026% for a yellow Stat-Trak item. Good luck!
