Want some “Hot Coffee” with Arthur? A sex mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently a thorn in Take-Two’s side. They don’t want this in their game.
What is this mod? The Hot Coffee mod in Red Dead Redemption 2 allows your cowboy to disappear with partners for a “hot coffee” in their room.
This became known in 2005 when modders extracted this minigame from the code. However, the characters were clothed during the “act.” Still, it went viral.
As PCGamer reports, San Andreas quickly received a new rating – from “Mature” to “Adults only,” which removed it from many shelves in America. Only through a patch that completely removed these contents was the rating restored.
What happened in RDR 2? For the cowboy game Red Dead Redemption 2, modders took specific assets like sounds and animations from the game’s code and simply designed their own Hot Coffee mod.
In the mod, you can approach certain NPCs in saloons, make them a clear offer, and then go to their room. You then see some animations and hear some moans.
However, it didn’t take long for Take-Two to intervene. In an email, representatives from Take-Two warned the two developers: If you do not remove the mod, we will take legal action. The end-user license agreement prohibits modifying software.
Furthermore, the code of conduct for online services “contains a prohibition for users to create, upload, or post material that is vulgar, obscene, sexually oriented, or inconsistent with community standards.”
The Take-Two representative emphasized that it’s the sexual content of the Hot Coffee mod that is the cause for concern.
The mod has been available since February 12, 2020, on Nexusmods.com. On February 17, YouTuber Swegta talked about the email from Take-Two in his video, just about five days after the upload.
Modder does not want to take sex mod offline
What does the mod creator say? In an interview with PCGamesN.com, the mod creator “Unlosing” states that Take-Two really asked him to take the mod offline. However, he claims he is not violating any rules.
The mod does not contain nudity or nude models and uses only assets that are still in the game. The animations come from the drunk-in-the-bar mission with Lenny (which is still in the game), and the “moaning” sounds are just the noises the [characters] make when they are injured. They also mention “online services,” but this mod is only available for single-player.

Without nudity, the mod does not sound nearly as disturbing as those images of naked Arthurs.
What happens next? Unlosing says he does not yet know what will happen next. He does not plan to take the mod offline for now. In his opinion, that would be unfair (via PCGamesN).
