Chris Roberts konnte per Crowdfunding einen neuen Meilenstein für das Weltraum-MMO Star Citizen erreichen.
Die Marke von 110 Millionen US-Dollar wurde überschritten. Mehr als 1,3 Millionen Gamer werden zu den Backern gezählt. Damit ist Star Citizen das erfolgreichste per Crowdfunding finanzierte Projekt. Die Einnahmen, die das Spiel jetzt schon generiert hat, liegen sogar über dem Budget von The Witcher 3, das Entwickler CD Projekt Red mit rund 81 Millionen Dollar beziffert. Auch die Entwicklungsarbeiten schreiten voran. Anhand der aktuell spielbaren Alpha erkennt man schon, wohin die Reise geht, auch, wenn das MMO noch weit von einer Fertigstellung entfernt ist.
Spielt Star Citizen kostenlos – mit allen zur Zeit fliegbaren Schiffen
Wer sich das selbst ansehen möchte aber momentan noch nicht sicher ist, ob er sich auch am Crowdfunding beteiligen soll, der hat bis zum 20. März die Gelegenheit dazu, Star Citizen in der aktuellen Alpha im Rahmen einer FreeFlight-Week Probe zu spielen. Dazu erstellt ihr auf der offiziellen Website einen Account. Ihr könnt dann den Client herunterladen, installieren und losspielen.
Das Besondere diesmal: Jedes aktuell fliegbare Schiff kann auch wirklich geflogen werden.

Mit der FreeFlight-Week erhaltet ihr momentan einen guten Einblick in das, was Star Citizen aktuell bietet. Das sind Kämpfe auf Raumstationen und im All sowie Multi-Crew-Schiffe und ein frisch eingeführtes Rechts-System, das allerdings noch in einer sehr frühen Form vorliegt.
