World of Tanks is a classic in the gaming world, and with Update 2.0, there is again a reason to take a look after all these years. Gifts are meant to sweeten your start, but for whom is the return/the entry worth it?
What changes with Update 2.0? World of Tanks is supposed to receive a completely new look on September 3, 2025, with Update 2.0. The most important change is Tier 11 in your research branch. This introduces 16 new tanks that you can unlock with XP and purchase for credits. More are expected to follow in the future.
Visually, a lot has changed, as the garage has been transformed into a huge warehouse with production centers, painting stations, and display areas. You will also receive a new interface and soundtracks.
Rebalance should also be an important point on the list, as all tanks have been adjusted to successfully defend against top-tier options in combat – of course, they are not the best in combat, but they are no longer bad either.
In addition to the changes, there are:
- A significant adjustment of matchmaking to ensure fairness
- A single-player mission in a new area
- New personal mission
- New map
- Sniper mode has a highlight effect that shows you with color where your tank penetration is most effective
- Tanks sound more realistic due to new sounds
- There are new events on 4 different maps
To make the return or entry worth it, Wargaming has decided to give away many items and currencies.
Generous gifts, but can the update convince?
What gifts are there? In total, you can expect 4 large gifts, which are:
- A branch of the research tree fully leveled up and purchased between levels 6 – 10

What does the community say about the update? Enthusiasm is limited, as even though the rewards appear generous at first glance, the changes awaiting you in Update 2.0 are not groundbreaking.
On Steam, fans express their opinions on this and believe that the update is not for newcomers or casual players. The tanks at Tier 11 are nice, but newcomers would not have the time to unlock them. It would take a lot of effort and currency to get them.
The new UI is also terrible, as it reminds players of mobile games. Finally, the matchmaking adjustments sound interesting, but do not address the core of the problem.
Matches should become more balanced by selecting and limiting the individual tank tiers, but the system currently does not take player skill into account. This means that you may find yourself thrown into a group full of experts as a newcomer, who will easily destroy your tank.
If you are not discouraged by this, feel free to take a look. The game is free, as are the gifts you can pick up. You will have until October to collect them. If you still do not like the game, you can uninstall it without any regrets.
