Victarion is another brother of Balon and Euron Greyjoy. He has a long rivalry with Euron, in particular. The two are very different: Euron is clever and charismatic, while Victarion is dull and warlike. Since Euron had an affair with Victarion’s third wife, the two have hated each other.
When Balon, the old lord of the Iron Islands, dies, both present themselves at the Kingsmoot to take over the succession. Euron triumphs and sends his brother to Essos to negotiate a marriage between Euron and Daenerys.
Victarion sets off as commanded but plans to marry Daenerys himself.
Overall, Victarion is quite a harsh character. On the way, he saves a red priest who heals a wound on Victarion’s hand, which subsequently turns completely black and becomes supernaturally strong. He is an important antagonist to Euron, who could play a significant role in future books (if they ever come out).
