Hella (engl. Penny) is a short young woman from Essos. Together with her also short brother Oppo, she performed comedic duels. They appeared, for example, at the wedding feast of Joffrey and Margaery, which is more or less visible in the series. However, they are just unnamed actors who are not further addressed.
In the books, we learn that Oppo was murdered because he was mistaken for Tyrion. Later, Hella encounters Tyrion and is initially very angry, as she blames him for her brother’s death. She even tries to kill him.
However, the two become increasingly friends, which is especially important for Tyrion’s character development. Hella is actually naive, trusting, and always tries to see the best in the world. Thus, she serves as a counterpoint to Tyrion’s bitter and cynical worldview.
Moreover, she teaches Tyrion what it means to be a short person in Westeros, without being able to rely on a big name.
