Harrold Hardyng is a distant relative of Jon Arryn, but because of various incidents, he became his closest heir. At least as soon as the sickly Robert Arryn should pass away. Since most assume this will happen sooner rather than later, Harrold is already known as “Harry the Heir.”
In the books, it is therefore Littlefinger’s plan to marry Sansa to Harrold under a pseudonym. He intended to use the resulting forces to reclaim Winterfell from the Boltons.
Honestly, this plan makes much more sense than marrying Sansa off to a sadistic Bolton, losing her favor, and granting the Boltons even more power. Many book readers were not particularly satisfied with this change in the series.
