In Pokémon GO you can grab a big gift right now: Mewtwo, and it’s pretty much perfect. On top of that, there’s also the best item in the game.
What’s happening in Pokémon GO? As part of the 10th anniversary, Pokémon GO has now released what is probably the biggest gift players have received in these 10 years.
If you are currently opening Pokémon GO, you will find a new timed research in the event tab. The rewards are very strong:
- Catch 10 Pokémon to receive a Master Ball. Yes, a real Master Ball. These are otherwise extremely difficult to obtain.
- For 10 power-ups, you will receive 500 Mega Energy for Mewtwo.
- And at the end of the research, you will also receive a Mewtwo.
This Mewtwo is not just any Mewtwo, but a very special one.
- It has perfect stats, so it is a rare four-star Pokémon.
- It has a special background showing the planet behind Mewtwo.
- It is already at Mega Level 3 for Mega Mewtwo Y.
The Pokémon is likely to be one of the best you have in your collection. If you’re really lucky, it might even appear as shiny.
Players cheer after there was initially no Mewtwo for them
Looking at social media, you will find players mainly excited about the new gift. In the Pokémon GO subreddit TheSilphRoad
the comments are piling up soon.
There are players who are logging in again only for this after years. Others proudly show their shundos that the research brought them. And some are simply excited about the Pokémon.
Some players also see it as compensation: In early July, an event was held for the anniversary celebration in New York City. There, players were also able to catch a perfect Mewtwo at Times Square, but the event seemed primarily aimed at invited content creators. The trainers on site were basically given a Mewtwo – while all others were not.
This caused anger, which is why some now see the new gift as a restitution. It also plays a role that the announcement of the current Mewtwo clearly states: Those who caught one in New York back then will not receive a perfect Mewtwo now, but one with a different rating.
Furthermore, the Mewtwo with the Times Square background is also expected to appear again in the future. However, there is no further information on this.
