Daemon Targaryen is one of the greatest and most feared warriors of all time. He proves this in House of the Dragon more than once. He is impulsive and battle-hungry, which earns him a certain reputation. This, however, causes King Viserys to exclude him from the line of succession. By the side of Rhaenyra, he still wields significant power and influence.
Daemon’s dragon Caraxes, the “Blood Wyrm”, is extremely powerful. He may not be the largest and oldest dragon of his time. However, he is aggressive, relentless, and battle-tested. He compensates for his lack of size with skill and agility.
Particularly noteworthy is the strong bond between Daemon and Caraxes. Both are actually loners who rarely let anyone close. Yet, they can trust each other blindly. Few riders can handle their dragon as well as Daemon handles his Caraxes. The two are not only strong fighters on their own. They form an extremely strong duo that one should not challenge.
Warning: Book Spoilers about the upcoming plot of House of the Dragon
In the source novel, there is a legendary duel between Daemon and Aemond. Caraxes manages to kill the much larger and older Vhagar, which is a remarkable achievement. However, it pulls Caraxes, including Daemon, to his death.
Despite the seemingly hopeless battle, Caraxes was always loyal to his rider. This once again proves the special relationship between the two.
